Royal Enfield have been extensively working on a product offensive strategy and with their new platforms and engines, they will be able to launch a new motorcycle every three months for the next three-four years.
We have already reported to you about Royal Enfield’s product offensive strategy going ahead. In an interview with carandbike, Royal Enfield CEO, Vinod Dasari, has revealed that the company plans to launch a new motorcycle ever quarter for the next three to four years. The product development team at Royal Enfield has been working quite hard to accelerate Royal Enfield’s product plan. The Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer has new platforms, new engines and several variants of each platform in the pipeline.
In the interview, Vinod Dasari said, “One of the things that we’ve done over the last 3-4 years is to significantly accelerate new product plans. We will remain a mid-sized company, that’s somewhere between 250 and 750 cc. In this range, there are five levels that we’re looking at. The first is platform. We have a new platform coming up. We would have launched it by now, we will launch it sometime, as soon as the lockdown is over.”
He further went on to say, “So we have the platforms, and under the platforms we have the models, within each model we have variants, within each variant we have several colour trims and graphics, and then we have the limited editions. So five levels, we’re so excited that, to a point, every quarter, for the next three to four years, we have a new model. It’s not just changing the colours or something, it will be almost a new model, or a variant, coming for the next three to four years.”

The first product from this product offensive strategy will be the new Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The Meteor 350 will be the motorcycle that debuts the all-new 350cc platform and the new 350cc engine. This new 350cc engine will be significantly more refined and will have much improved performance that Royal Enfield’s existing UCE 350cc engines. This new platform will also be a modular architecture which means the same platform and engine-gearbox combination will be able to serve several new models and variants.

Royal Enfield hasn’t revealed much technical details about the new 350cc engines. This new engine will however come with overhead cams instead of Royal Enfield’s traditional push rod technology. It will also feature counterbalancers and we expect the new engine to be free-revving with a smooth and refined performance, in essence, like a downsized version of the 650cc parallel-twin engine. So hold your horses as your favorite Indian motorcycle manufacturer is about to take the market with a storm.
