Suzuki Completes BS6 Portfolio with Gixxer 250 Motorcycles – Price and Details!

Suzuki has launched the BS6 versions of the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 with an average increase in price of Rs 3,500 which is rather very reasonable as we have seen a lot of BS6 updates with a steep hike in price.

Suzuki had already launched BS6 compliant versions of all their motorcycles and scooters but there was just one missing piece in their puzzle – the Gixxer 250s. Suzuki has now launched the BS6 compliant versions of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250. Suzuki has updated both the motorcycles silently and they now see an increment in price of about Rs 3,500 on average. Here’s a detailed price break up of the BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 motorcycles as compared with their BS4 counterparts as well.

Suzuki has launched the BS6 complaint versions of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 with an average price hike of Rs 3,500.
Suzuki has launched the BS6 complaint versions of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 with an average price hike of Rs 3,500.
Model BS6 Price BS4 Price Difference
Gixxer 250 Rs 1,63,400
Rs 1,59,800 Rs 3,600
Gixxer SF 250 Rs 1,74,000
Rs 1,70,655 Rs 3,345
Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP Rs 1,74,900
Rs 1,71,456 Rs 3,444

The price hike of Rs 3,500 on average is rather surprising for a BS6 update. Most manufacturers have hiked the prices of their motorcycles by a significant amount for BS6 compliance but it seems rather puny in case of the Gixxer 250s. Even for the Gixxer 150s, Suzuki hiked the prices of the motorcycles by Rs 11,500 over their BS4 counterparts. So just an increment of Rs 3,600 seems rather reasonable.

There have been no other changes on either of the motorcycles other than the BS6 complaince. The styling remains exactly the same and so does the features on offer. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 are powered by a BS6-compliant 249cc, oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 26.5PS of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. Although the power figure remains identical, peak torque has gone down by 0.4Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of underpinning, both the motorcycle use telescopic forks in the front and a mono-shock at the back for suspension. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a dual-channel ABS as standard. Features onboard include LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument console, dual-channel ABS, split seats and dual-exhaust tip. The Gixxer 250 is a naked street motorcycle, whereas the SF 250 is a fully faired motorcycle.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 competes in a crowded segment of 250cc naked motorcycles like the KTM Duke 250, the Yamaha FZ-25, the Husqvarna 250 twins, and the Dominar 250. Meanwhile, the Gixxer SF 250 competes with the likes of the Yamaha Fazer 25, the Honda CBR250R and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. With Suzuki having sorted their mass market offerings, the company can now focus on updated versions of their bigger bikes like the V-Strom 650XT and the GSX-S750.
