Volkswagen has launched the BS6 Polo with a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder TSI engine. It replaces the 1.2 Litre four-cylinder TSI engine and the 1.5 Litre TDI engine. The new unit is available only on the top-end trims, including the GT trim. Due to the BS6 emission norms, he existing engines were discontinued however the 1.0 Litre MPI is still there.
In this review video, after explaining all the goods and bads of the Polo 1.0 TSI, the reviewer gets his friend who owns the 1.2 Litre GT TSI. Both of them are put against each other in a quick drag race. While the engine capacity of the new Polo is smaller than the earlier one, it produces more power and torque.

Right from the start of the race, the Polo 1.0 TSI has a clear win and as it inches towards the victory line, there’s a considerable gap between both of them. As of now, the official acceleration figures have not been revealed. As claimed by Volkswagen, the 1.2 TSI could go from 0-100 km/hr in just 9.7 seconds.
A big difference between both of them is that the BS6 Polo comes with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The one in this video is the manual variant. Whereas the GT TSI came mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Despite the latter being very premium, its a manual gearbox which is anyday faster and more fun to drive.
Other than the engine, rest of the things are same as found on the BS4 version. The BS6 Polo continues with automatic headlamps, cruise control, automatic rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, flat-bottom steering wheel, traction control and auto up-down windows.

The BS6 Polo is priced from Rs 5.82 Lakhs to Rs 7.80 Lakhs for the MPI variants. The TSI variant are priced from Rs 8.02 Lakhs to Rs 9.59 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). For the Polo, you have competitors including Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Ford Figo, Freestyle, Maruti Baleno, Maruti Swift, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20. For the TSI variants, there’s the new Nios Turbo in a form of rival.
