2020 Honda City Might Come Only In Two Fully Loaded Top End Variants

Reports suggest that the upcoming new Honda City will only come in two top-end fully loaded variants, without any base or mid-spec variant.

Honda is going to launch the new generation City mostly in the month of August. The India-spec version is yet to be revealed and possibly by next month, we might get to see it. The new City is more premium than the outgoing one, carrying new features, revised engines and a comprehensive styling upgrade.

The new generation City will co exist with the outgoing version. Mostly, the new City will only come in two top end variants which will get all the bells and whistles. It might just come in the VX and ZX Trims but with all the engine and gearbox options. If you want to buy its base or mid-spec trims, then you might just have to take the outgoing City.

That seems like one of the primary reasons for Honda not discontinuing the current City. The prices of current City will remain the same and the upcoming new version will demand atleast a Lakh more. The top-end variants of the new 2020 Honda City could go up to Rs 16 Lakhs (ex-showroom) easily.

The updated sedan will continue with the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines that came earlier. The petrol engine might also get a mild-hybrid technology as standard fitment. The power figures of the petrol unit will be around 120 PS and mated to a manual and CVT gearbox. The diesel engine will produce the same as earlier but will now gain a CVT gearbox along with the existing 6-speed MT.

New features onboard will include LED headlamps, new diamond-cut alloy wheels, Lane Watch Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Traction Control, bigger and fancier 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Alexa, six airbags, ventilated seats and much more. It will provide very serious competition to the Hyundai Verna which is a leader when it comes to features.

The new Honda City will be marginally bigger than the outgoing version. Specifically, it will be longer and wider than the current City. That is expected to make the City offer a more spacious cabin. Unofficial bookings for it have already commenced across some dealerships and we will hear some developments, officially next month.
