Honda is offering huge discount and offers on the current generation City ahead of the upgraded sedan coming in soon!
Honda City is one of the most popular sedans in India and is now available with hefty discounts and offers. As the new City is coming, the outgoing version will co-exist but remain in the backseat. The prices of City now start at Rs 9.91 Lakhs going up to Rs 14.31 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
Honda is offering official discounts of up to Rs 1 Lakh on the City. However, the offers are different for each variant with the lowest discount of just Rs 45,000. Here is the detailed classification of all the discounts on different variants.

If you are opting for the top-end VX and ZX CVT variants, you can get a discount of Rs 1 Lakh. Even on the ZX manual variant, you get a total discount of Rs 1 Lakh. On the second in line VX variant, you get a total offer of RS 72,000. Lastly, on the mid-spec V and base SV variant, you get the lowest discount of Rs 45,000.
The top-end ZX CVT variant goes for Rs 14.31 Lakhs and with the offers applied, you can get it for a Lakh cheaper. Similarly, the ZX manual variant goes for Rs 13.01 Lakhs and comes loaded with all the bells and whistles. With discounts applied, it might be cheaper than a lot of top-end variants of other competitors like Ciaz and Verna.
The 1.5 Litre diesel engine has been discontinued due to the BS6 norms and will make a comeback on the new generation City. It is now a petrol-only sedan that is the same 1.5 Litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The engine produces 117 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed MT and a CVT gearbox.

The new City will continue with the same engines but the petrol engine will get a mild hybrid system as standard. Also, the diesel engine will get a CVT gearbox, finally. In its competition, only Hyundai Verna offers a diesel engine as well as the diesel-auto combination. Rest of the other sedans come with only petrol engines.
