Mahindra Bolero Comes Fitted With Toilet for Social Distancing – What?

This man from Kerala has modified his Mahindra Bolero to be fitted with an aircraft-style vaccum toilet facility to avoid public toilets for social distancing during long journeys.

In these times of Covid-19, we have seen quite a interesting car modifications but none quite as thoughtful and also bizarre as this. Ever wished that your car came with a bathroom on those long drives so you don’t have to hunt for public toilets? Well, this is how the fulfillment of your wish should look like. A man from Kerela has modified his Mahindra Bolero to even have a loo – a compact western style toilet built into the boot of the car.

As you can clearly see in the video, there’s a full-fledged western commode built in the backside of this Mahindra Bolero. The owner claims that the purpose behind such a modification was to avoid the use of public toilets and maintain social distancing during long drives in these trying times of Covid-19. Who would have thought that coronavirus could even bring out such innovations from how people use their cars.

What’s really surprising is how well the toilet has been built inside the car. The owner explains that the basic mechanism is similar to the vaccum-based toilets found in an aircraft. There’s a water tank on board and a seemingly well-routed waste disposal system which treat the waste with chemicals before releasing it from the underside through a valve. The toilet facility has also been equipped with soap and sanitizer holder within easy reach, and for adequate privacy, the rear section of the car has been completely covered off with curtains.

This has to be one of the craziest innovations in cars we have seen.

We are however not sure if this toilet can be used on the go. Nevertheless, even having such a facility in your car is a great thing in such times when travelling long distances. We are sure women will really appreciate this feature particularly. And apart from that, this Bolero is now a perfect partner for a camping trip too. You can set up your tent out in the open and use the toilet in the car the next morning. We must however mention that the water tank has only limited capacity and we hope it does not run out during an emergency.

The other thing which remains a little uncertain is that what would you do if there’s some malfunctioning in the system? We reckon this car keep reserves of air freshener in it. But what’s the cost of putting up such a toilet in your car? Well, just around Rs 65,000. That’s nothing considering the convenience you are carrying around. And its just not restricted to the Bolero, but can fitted inside any SUV with a similar or even larger cargo department.
