Hyundai launched the Verna facelift amidst the lockdown and its deliveries have also commenced. The City was supposed to be launched prior to the Verna but due to the ongoing pandemic, its launch got delayed. With the update, both the sedans offer a lot more features and some exciting new engines.
While the Verna gets a facelift along with a BS6 engine upgrade, the Honda City will get a proper generation upgrade. The dimensions will also be changed so as to make it a completely new offering. The Verna is priced from Rs 9.30 Lakhs for the petrol variants and Rs 10.65 Lakhs for the diesel variant. The top-end diesel automatic variant is the costliest, priced at Rs 15.10 Lakhs. The turbo-DCT variant comes in cheaper at Rs 14 Lakhs.
Honda City, on the other hand, starts off at Rs 9.91 Lakhs up to Rs 14.31 Lakhs. Latest reports suggest that the new City will only come with the top end two trims. If you want to buy a base variant, you will have to go for the current City. The new version is expected to demand atleast a Lakh more than the outgoing version.

Reports suggested that the launch of Verna will be delayed, however, Hyundai silently launched the sedan. It was officially launched just a couple of weeks back and earlier, the prices were revealed. The new Verna gets a 1.5 Litre petrol engine, ditching its earlier 1.6 Litre motor. The new engine produces 115 PS and 143 Nm of torque. It also comes with a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, that puts out 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque. That makes it the most powerful sedan in the segment.
City will continue with its 1.5 Litre iVTEC engine, that now produces 119 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque. There are chances of it getting a mild-hybrid system with this engine.

Verna gets a new 1.5 Litre diesel engine, which produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The City gets the same capacity 1.5 Litre iDTEC engine but produces 15 PS and 50 Nm lower. These are still the speculated figures and there could be a possible power bump in the BS6 diesel.

It is slightly bigger than the outgoing version and Verna as well. This could mean that the new City will be more spacious than its rivals.
