New Land Rover Defender 110 roof tent launched

Land Rover has teamed up with Italian adventure gear specialist Autohome to produce a new roof tent for the Defender 110.

The system mounts directly to the SUV’s roof rails and is available to order now, with prices starting from €3,081.96 (roughly £2,800) excluding VAT.

The roof tent package includes a mattress, three pillows, an LED interior light, a removable rear canopy, mosquito nets on each door and a compact aluminium ladder. The tent’s clamshell roof is also made from insulated fibreglass, which Autohome says will keep the tent warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather – as well as muffle rain noise.

When erected, the tent measures 2.3 metres long, 1.3 metres wide and 1.5 metres tall. The tent’s roof is also mounted on a pair of gas struts, which allows it to be opened by simply releasing a clip at the rear of the roof-box.

The roof tent is the latest addition to the Defender’s list of 170 customisation options – and Land Rover expects it will prove particularly popular on the as a complement for the Adventure Pack, which features a roof rack and roof rails as standard, as well as a pair of side-mounted storage cases.
