Old Toyota Innova Vs New Innova Crysta Off-Roading In Spiti – Video

Here’s a video where you can see the first-gen Toyota Innova and the new Innova Crysta trying hard to cross the Spiti Valley. See how it goes.

Toyota Innova, this year, completed 15 years of its India stint. It was launched in February 2005 and is still going very strong. The Innova was discontinued many years back only to be replaced by the bigger, fancier and more comfortable Innova Crysta. Basically, it was a major generation upgrade.

Here is a video where the first version of the Toyota Innova and the new Innova Crysta that are trying to pass the Manali-Gaza road in Spiti Valley. As you can see, both of them have to pass through heavily damaged roads with rocks. These rocks are strong enough to damage the suspension axles and the bottom of the car.

In the first clip, you can see the Innova Crysta passing through it with some difficulties. Because it gets slightly better ground clearance, that’s why there seems to be no problem. However, the older Innova has comparatively lower clearance and that’s why it has to be more careful. Both of them take their own time to pass this hurdle.

Second up is the flowing rivulets which seems like a cakewalk for both of them. Do note that the passengers of both the vehicles were not seated in the first hurdle and later sat when they cleared it. After that, there was a sharp turn for which the passengers had to get out again. This shows that be it an old or a new Innova, you can give it any rough treatment.

All Toyota cars are known to be sturdy and long lasting. The fact that many buyers still own the first version Toyota Innova and seem to have no problem with it. Apart from the reliable diesel engine of Toyota, their components and even the fittings are said to be very good quality.

Right now, Toyota Innova Crysta gets a BS6 compliant 2.7 Litre petrol and 2.4 Litre diesel engine, paired to a 5-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The prices of Innova commence at Rs 15.66 Lakhs going up to Rs 22.46 Lakhs for the petrol variant. The diesel variants are priced from Rs 16.44 Lakhs to Rs 24.67 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).
