Tata Altroz is the best selling Tata car for the month of May 2020, overtaking Tiago and Nexon, their original best sellers.
Tata Altroz is the latest premium hatchback in town, rivaling the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20. For the month of April, all car makers registered zero sales as then dealerships were shut. Starting from May, many dealerships started opening their shutters but still could not make decent figures.
For the month of May 2020, Tata Motors recorded very low sales along with all manufacturers. However, this time, Nexon and Tiago were replaced as best sellers by Tata Altroz. Tata sold 1379 units of the hatchback opposed to 875 units of Tiago and 623 units of Nexon. With this, Altroz is also one of the best selling premium hatchbacks for the month.

For many months, actually years, Tata Tiago has managed to stay on top as the best selling car from their stable. Sometimes, it was overtaken by Tata Nexon, which is one of the most popular and trusted cars of India. Usually, the third position would either be grabbed by Harrier or Tigor.
If we notice, many new cars are seeing high sales figures for May whereas old timers are performing low. Its because many people booked it before the lockdown started or probably booked it online. Since the new ones have a high waiting period, people wanted to book it as early as possible.
One such example is the 2020 Hyundai Creta which is the best selling car of India for May. Creta has managed to stay in the top 10 for some months, however never it has managed to achieve this position. It was launched just days before the lockdown started and since then, it garnered over 24,000 bookings.

Tata Motors is going to launch the HBX Micro SUV this year, probably towards the end. Other upcoming Tata cars include Gravitas or the 7-seater Harrier and the BS6 compliant Hexa Safari Edition. Right now, it has Harrier, Nexon, Tiago, Tigor and Altroz in its current lineup.
