Here’s a video where the combined power of Tata Safari and Toyota Fortuner cannot pull a tractor in a tug of war competition.
We have seen a lot of tug of war competitions involving cars like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and such big SUVs. On the other hand, you usually find another big car or probably, a tractor. Here’s one such example where the battle is between a tractor and a Tata Safari and Toyota Fortuner.
In the first attempt, it is just the Toyota Fortuner vs the Holland tractor. As the competition begins, you can see that just the next second, the tractor moves ahead despite Fortuner trying so hard. Literally, you can heard the Fortuner roaring but no avail. Next up, is the Tat Safari that’s attached to the Fortuner.

In the second attempt, despite both of them applying full power, the tractor still manages to pull them away. Even here you can hear the Safari roaring at the top RPM but cannot put up against the tractor. That does not mean that the tractor has more power than both of them combined but the technique used is wrong.
If two ropes had been applied to the tractor itself, one pulled by Safari and the other by Fortuner, then it would have worked. The tractor used a 4WD system and so does the Fortuner. Safari instead comes with a 4X2 drivetrain in this variant. The 4X4 for Safari was optional only on the top-spec trim.
Also, you can see that the tyres of Fortuner are in no good shape. They have expired their usage and cannot offer a decent grip. Aftermarket alloys gradually damage the quality of tyres over the years. That’s because they are not tested and engineered as per the car which takes a toll on fuel efficiency and suspension as well.

This Tata Safari gets a 2.2 Litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 154 BHP. Fortuner is quite old and probably the second version or the second facelifted model. It gets a 3.0 Litre turbo diesel engine that is good for 170 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Now, it gets a 2.7 Litre petrol and a 2.8 Litre diesel engine.
