Well, the Union Government has allowed for several relaxation of rules when it comes to movement of vehicles all across the country that’s effective from June 8, 2020. The most important highlight is the free movement of passenger and public transport vehicles across all state borders. It has also clarified by the Ministry of Home Affairs that the movement of vehicles will not require passes anymore, except for essential service providers who are travelling during the curfew hours. The curfew hours now stands from 9pm to 5am.

The local authorities and state government bodies have however been empowered to change these rules depending on the situation prevailing in the particular area. Many state governments have in fact already gone ahead and extended the lockdown in their respective states. Maharashtra for example has extended the lockdown till June 30th, allowing only intra-district public bus service but still restricting inter-district travel. Meanwhile in Gujarat, pillion riders are allowed on two-wheelers but cars with six seats can only carry up to four passengers.

Meanwhile in Himachal Pradesh, public buses can only ply with only 60% capacity and that too with air conditioners switched off. The situation still remains quite uncertain at places and it completely depends on the local authorities now. Similarly, the price of petrol in J&K has gone up by Rs 2/liter while diesel is more expensive by Rs 1/liter. Himachal Pradesh will also see both petrol and diesel prices going up by Rs 1/litre.
