Top 5 Fun To Drive Cars That We Miss

1. Maruti Zen Carbon

Maruti Zen was launched back in 1998 and was a small but peppy hatchback. Maruti decided to make it sportier and launched the Carbon Edition, which was a three-door version. With tasty alloy wheels and some sporty bits, it instantly became an auto-enthusiast’s dream. The engine was the same 1.0 Litre three-cylinder but due to it being light, it was very quick in acceleration and great in handling.

2. Chevrolet Cruze

Chevrolet might have long left India but Cruze is one such car that Indians can never forget. It was launched first in 2009 with a diesel engine and was very premium. The engine put out 138 PS and 325 Nm of peak torque, which made it very exciting to drive. After having a decent run in the market for nearly 8 years, Chevrolet stopped its India operations.

3. Fiat Abarth Punto

Fiat Abarth Punto might not be a known car but was very popular within the enthusiasts. Despite being the priciest hatchback, that did not stop buyers from buying it. It came with a 1.4 Litre turbo petrol engine that produced 145 BHP, enough to smoke up all hatchbacks and even compact SUVs. Abarth Punto further got retweaked suspension setup and completely different driving characteristic.

4. Tata Safari

Tata Safari might not be so high on performance side but it will be one of the most fun to drive SUVs in India. Safari offered generous amount of torque coupled with its tall-boy design made it a good off-roader as well as a lifestyle SUV. It was never a high seller but catered to a certain clientele that did not care about the competition. It was discontinued just a couple of months back in 2019.

5. Ford Ecosport Ecoboost

The last one on this list is a recent one. Ecosport was launched back in the early 2010s and was soon available with an unpopular 1.0 Litre Ecoboost engine. Over the years, its fan following increased but was recently discontinued due to the BS6 norms. Even today, it remains the most powerful engine offered in its sub compact SUV segment, pumping out around 126 PS.
