Triumph will soon be launching two new ‘Black Icons’ – the Bonneville T100 Black and T120 Black – in India which come with a sinister all-black theme and it looks stunning to our eyes.
If you fan of the Triumph Bonneville series, you might very well be excited at this news. Triumph will be launching two new ‘Black Icons’ – the Bonneville T100 Black and the Bonneville T120 Black – in India on the 12th of June. The British motorcycle manufacturer has teased the upcoming motorcycles on their social media handles with the hashtag ‘Black Icons’ and icons, they are! Triumph has already updated their entire Bonneville to the BS6 emission norms and these Black edition motorcycles will also be BS6 compliant at launch.
Internationally, these Black edition motorcycles are surprisingly priced identical to the standard motorcycles on which they are based. We expect Triumph to follow the same pricing strategy here in India as well. Thus, the Bonneville T100 Black could be priced at Rs 8.87 lakh while the Bonneville T120 Black is expected to be priced at Rs 9.97 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, pan India). We will not have to wait long to find out anyway.
The ‘Black Icons’ are essentially a blacked out versions of the Bonneville T100 and T120 classic motorcycles. All the chrome on the motorcycle have been swapped for an all-black theme. The paint job is black, the engine casing is black, the suspension components are black, the exhaust pipe is black and even the wire-spoke wheels come painted in black. Internationally, the motorcycle gets two paint finish options – Jet Black and Matte Jet Black. The T120 further gets a dark brown colored seat.

Other than an all-black treatment, the powertrain and the underpinnings of the motorcycle remain unchanged. The Bonneville T100 is powered by a 900cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that puts out 55PS and 76.73Nm. Meanwhile, the larger Bonneville T120 is powered by a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor that puts out 80PS and 105Nm. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Both the motorcycles also get ride-by-wire and traction control while the T120 additionally gets two riding modes.

Both the motorcycles are underpinned by a tubular steel cradle frame. Suspension duties at the front are handled by KYB 41mm telescopic forks with dual shock absorbers at the rear. The T120 however gets more premium cartridge type forks. Both the motorcycles are shod with identical 100/90-18 front and 150/70 R17 rear tyres. Braking duties on the T100 are handled by a single 310mm disc at the front with Nissin 2-piston calipers and a 255mm rear disc. Meanwhile, the T120 gets twin 310mm discs with Nissin 2-piston calipers and a 255mm rear disc. Both motorcycles get dual channel ABS as standard.
