2020 Honda City Starts Reaching Dealership For Test Drive And Demo!

New Honda City has now started reaching dealerships ahead of the launch this month. The test drives of the car will commence very soon.

Honda has revealed the new fifth generation City in India which is scheduled to be launched in the coming weeks. The pre bookings have already begun at the dealerships and on their official website. Now, we can confirm that the City has started reaching dealerships, indicating the launch is nearing.

Our dealership sources have confirmed that mostly by next week, the demo cars will be available for buyers. The test drive will also begin next week itself. Honda City will be available in three options – Petrol-Manual, Petrol CVT and Diesel Manual. The engine and gearbox options will remain the same as earlier.

The 1.5 Litre NA petrol engine gets DOHC setup and an improved VVT technology. Due to these changes, it now produces 122 PS, which is nearly 5 PS more. The torque output remains the same at 145 Nm. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine gets no changes, continuing to offer 100 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque.

Features onboard include Lane Watch Camera, 7-inch Touchscreen infotainment with Internet Car Technology and Alexa, Semi-Digital Instrument Cluster, Automatic LED headlamps, automatic AC, Front and Rear Centre Armrest and electric sunroof. It comes with a couple of segment first features giving a tough competition to Hyundai Venue.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Traction Control, Rear Parking Camera with Sensors, Hill Assist Control and electrochromic Day/Night IRVM. The new platform, on which the Honda City is built, is stronger and has a better build quality. However, it has increased the weight of the sedan by a small margin.

We are expecting the new Honda City to start off for no less than Rs 10.5 Lakhs, going easily up to Rs 15 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It will continue to co-exist with the current generation Honda City and demand nearly Rs 50,000 to a Lakh more. The competition will remain the same including Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Toyota Yaris.
