Piaggio launched the updated BS6 Vespa VXL and SXL 125 and 150 Scooters in India today and although the hike in price is minimal, they still are exorbitantly expensive, each costing at least Rs 1.10 lakh.
Piaggio India revealed new facelifts for the 2020 Vespa VXL and SXL 125 and 150 scooters in India sometime ago. The updated scooters now come with BS6 complaint engines, some revisions to the design and there are some new features that have been thrown in too. Piaggio opened bookings for the 2020 Vespa VXL and SXL Facelift range a couple of weeks earlier for a token amount of Rs 1,000. Now, Piaggio has launched the facelifted versions of the BS6 Vespa VXL and SXL range of scooters in India and here’s your look at the price of each variant.

Adapting to the current crisis, the booking and purchase of the scooters can be done at the company’s website as part of the brand’s contactless purchase experience. Piaggio is also offering benefits of up to Rs 2,000 on its official website that can be availed on the purchase of these facelifted Vespas. But let’s talk about the updates first. There are not many to speak off but the Vespas get a new LED headlamps that also come with integrated LED DRLs. The scooters additionally also gets a USB charging port and a boot light.
The engines on the Vespa VXL and SXL have also been updated to comply with the BS6 norms and they now come with three-valve technology and also fuel-injection. The VXL and SXL 150 are powered by a 149.5 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10.3 bhp and 10.6 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the Vespa 125s are powered by a 125 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 9.7 bhp and 9.60 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a CVT automatic transmission.

The Vespa VXL and SXL 125 come equipped with combi-braking system (CBS) as standard, while the 150 cc scooters gets ABS as standard. For suspension duties, the Vespas get an adjustable rear suspension and at the front, both the scooters get telescopic forks. Piaggio has also announced that the new 2020 Vespa facelifts have already been shipped and will be available at Piaggio dealerships across the country very soon.

Although the price hike with this facelift and BS6 update is very minimal for all the scooters, these Vespas are still exorbitantly priced, costing at least above Rs 1.10 lakh. The engine displacement and performance on offer also do not justify the exceptionally high pricing. With the launch of the updated VXL and the SXL out of the way, Piaggio will now soon be bringing the limited edition Vespa Racing Sixties to the country that was showcased at the Auto Expo.
