BS6 Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF 250 Price Increased Even After BS6 Update!

Suzuki has yet again increased the prices of the BS6 Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 by around Rs 2,000 and this comes just after over a month of the launch of the BS6 motorcycles.

Just about a month ago, Suzuki completed their BS6 motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 and already, Suzuki has announced a price hike for both the motorcycles. When Suzuki launched the BS6 versions of the Gixxer 250s, they only saw a marginal hike in price of about Rs 3,500, unlike the Gixxer 150s which saw a hike in price by about Rs 11,500. Now, Suzuki has hiked the prices of the Gixxer 250s by about Rs 2,000 and here’s the updated price list of the BS6 Suzuki motorcycles.

Model BS6 Launch Price New Price Price Increase
Suzuki Gixxer 250 Rs 1,63,400 Rs 1,65,441 Rs 2,041
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Rs 1,74,000 Rs 1,76,140 Rs 2,140
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP Edition Rs 1,74,900 Rs 1,76,941 Rs 2,041

The motorcycles remain unchanged with the price hike and you get nothing extra for your additional Rs 2,000. When the BS6 version of these motorcycles were launched about a month ago, we were indeed glad that the increment in price has been by a very marginal amount. In fact, most other manufacturers have been hiking the price of their models by a significant amount for the BS6 update. That however stands nullified now.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 are powered by a BS6-compliant 249cc, oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 26.5PS of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. With its BS6 update, although the power figure remained identical, peak torque went down by 0.4Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of underpinning, both the motorcycle use telescopic forks in the front and a mono-shock at the back for suspension. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a dual-channel ABS as standard. Features onboard include LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument console, dual-channel ABS, split seats and dual-exhaust tip. The Gixxer 250 is a naked street motorcycle, whereas the SF 250 is a fully faired motorcycle.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 competes in a crowded segment of 250cc naked motorcycles like the KTM Duke 250, the Yamaha FZ-25, the Husqvarna 250 twins, and the Dominar 250. Meanwhile, the Gixxer SF 250 competes with the likes of the Yamaha Fazer 25, the Honda CBR250R and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Suzuki has sorted out the BS6 lineup of its mass market offerings and it will now be focusing on updated versions of their bigger bikes like the V-Strom 650XT and the GSX-S750.
