More and more people opting for personal mobility will be the new trend going ahead in the wake of the current scenario. Automobile manufacturers are thus banking on the situation and coming up with new car launches in spite of the ongoing lockdown. July already saw very important launches with the new Honda City, the MG Hector Plus and many more and August too has an important slew of car launches lined up. So here’s everything new that’s arriving next month.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol

The first launch of the month is slated for August 5 and its going to be the BS6 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol. Maruti Suzuki discontinued the S-Cross with its diesel engine earlier this year as we stepped into the BS6 era. The S-Cross is now set to make a comeback with a new BS6 1.5L, four-cylinder petrol engine that will even feature Maruti Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system. The S-Cross will also get the option a 4-speed torque converter gearbox for the first time along with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There are no visual changes on the BS6 S-Cross inside or out with the new car will be updated with a new infotainment system the Smart Play Studio 2.0 interface.

Kia Sonet

Well, this is not a launch exactly, but Kia Motors will be globally unveiling the Sonet compact SUV on August 7 and that’s a very important car for the brand. The Sonet is the car that will really bring the volumes for Kia in India. The Kia Sonet is a sister car of the Hyundai Venue and is based on the same platform and will also be offered with the same powertrain options. The Kia Sonet is a very handsome looking car but the Sonet’s highlight will be its feature packed interiors, just like its elder brother, the Seltos. The Sonet will be launched later in September in India and will be one of the most important new launches of the year.

BS6 Honda Jazz Facelift

Honda is finally expected to launch the BS6 Jazz facelift at the end of this month as a petrol only model.

The BS6 Honda Jazz is due for a very long time and is finally expected to launch next month. Along with the BS6 update, Honda has also thrown in a few cosmetic updates to the car to make it look much more contemporary. It gets new LED headlights for the first time and the bumper and grille design has also been tweaked. On the inside, we expect an updated infotainment system. Going ahead, the Honda Jazz will be a petrol only model with a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre i-VTEC motor that produces 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. The engine will get a 5-speed manual gearbox, along with an optional CVT automatic transmission.

Renault Duster 1.3L Turbo-Petrol

The Renault Duster 1.3L turbo-petrol will be an important launch to compensate for the loss of the diesel engine in the Duster.

Earlier this year, Renault discontinued the very popular diesel engine from under the hood of the Duster due to the BS6 norms. They will soon compensate the loss of the diesel engine with a new 1.3L, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine is also offered on the Nissan Kicks and it has the best in class numbers. With 153bhp and 250 Nm of torque on tap, it is more powerful than turbo-petrol variants of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Hector. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an optional CVT automatic transmission as well. The launch is expected to happen in the later half of August.

Mercedes Benz EQC

Among premium car launches in August, Mercedes-Benz will be debuting their EQ brand in India with the new EQC.

Apart from these mass market launches, there’s a premium car launch scheduled for August. Its not just any premium car but the Mercedes Benz EQC, the UV with which Mercedes will debut its EQ brand in India. The Mercedes Benz EQC is a very futuristic looking car and a very handsome one at that. The interiors are also very luxuriously laid out like most Mercedes Benz cars. It is powered by a dual-motor setup, which includes one motor for the front axle and one for the rear. The motors produce a combined 300 kW (402 bhp) of peak power and 765 Nm of peak torque. The Mercedes EQC has an all-electric range of around 400 km.
