The owner of this Tata Harrier has decided to test the water wading capability and if the high ground clearance is actually beneficial or not.
Tata Harrier is quite popular in the market due to its butch-type appearance and resemblance to the bigger Range Rovers. It is actually built on the same but heavily localized platform of JLR. Naturally, we all expect the SUV to do some good in the off-roading scenario, despite being a FWD as standard.
Here, you can see the Harrier going in high water level, that’s almost reaching the bumper. It can easily cross that hurdle with its ground clearance of 205mm and wading depth of 450mm. There are a couple of other videos also suggesting that the Harrier can tolerate some medium level of off-roading, not hardcore.

However, the owner has committed one mistake while doing this video. The Harrier enters the puddle at a high speed which is not good for the components. It could have damaged the air intake system or could have caused a hydrostatic lock. If any of these things happens, it is quite difficult and costly to get the car back to normal.
Usually, if you have to cross high water levels like this, you should slowly enter it. Even after entering, you just be extremely slow as to avoid splashback on to engine components. Also, Tata Harrier comes with different terrain response modes which includes Rain/Wet mode as well. The owner has used that for this stint.
Most of the buyers were expecting Harrier to come with 4WD or AWD like other Tata siblings. However, with a strong build quality and superb overall package, Harrier was launched at a much competitive price. It starts at Rs 13.7 Lakhs going up to Rs 20.25 Lakhs including the Diesel AT variants as well.

Harrier now gets a 2.0 Litre BS6 compliant diesel engine that produces 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes with a 6-speed manual stick and the option of a 6-speed torque converter AT. The deliveries of Harrier AT have commenced last month only, due to the delay from the nationwide lockdown.
