Jawa Will Finally Commence Deliveries of the Perak from July 20!

After its launch in November 2019, Jawa will now finally commence deliveries of the Perak from July 20 onwards after over 8 months since the launch. Of course, the Covid-19 crisis had to play a part in this.

The Jawa Perak was launched in India back in November of 2019 and although its been about 8 months since then, customers who have booked the motorcycle still haven’t received their motorcycle. The company had already struggled with deliveries of the Jawa and the Forty Two and the Covid-19 crisis worsened the situation for the Perak. Deliveries of the Jawa Perak were orginally supposed to start in April, 2020. Another reason for the delay is that the ARAI certification for this motorcycle was not completed on time. Now, the company is finally ready to commence deliveries from July 20.

Bookings for the Jawa Perak have been on since the beginning of this year and you can now even book the motorcycle online by paying a token amount of Rs 10,000. Adapting with current times, Jawa is now even offering test rides for prospective customers at their own homes or offices, so you don’t have to visit a dealership. Expect deliveries to commence on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Perak is available in India for a price of Rs 1.94 lakh, ex-showroom. Its a very unique motorcycle and Jawa has absolutely nailed the pricing of Perak.

The Perak is one head turner of a motorcycle. Typical to bobber styled motorcycles, the Perak gets chopped front and rear fenders and the body panels have a very classy approach. The chassis has been tweaked in order to accommodate the new wide cage-type swingarm. The production motorcycle also retains the slash-cut exhaust we earlier saw on the pre-production model. The all-black paint scheme with blacked out mechanical parts make it look quite stealthy. The gold accents on the black motorcycle and a single-piece flaoting seat complete the look for a rather sexy looking bobber.

Although the Perak is based on the same platform as the other two Jawa motorcycles in India, it is the brand’s most powerful motorcycle out of the three, thanks to a bored-out 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 30.41PS and 31Nm. Such numbers are very good from an engine of this displacement and with a weight of 179kg, you can expect performance to be quite sprightly. In comparison, the two other Jawas produce 26.51PS and 27.05Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Jawa Perak uses a very unique rear monoshock with a cage-like swingarm which also gives the motorcycle a distinctive look. The front uses telescopic forks and braking duties are performed by 280mm front and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Perak is like nothing else in this price bracket and it is the most affordable bobber you can buy in India. The next cheapest bobber available in India is the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, which costs Rs 10.28 lakh (ex-showroom India). Apart from making a statement, the Perak makes for a great way to own a factory custom motorcycle at this price point.
