The new-generation 2020 Honda City has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 10.89 Lakhs!

Honda has finally launched the new City in India after its pre bookings commenced during the lockdown. Along with BS6 compliant engines, the upgraded sedan gets many new features, a complete styling makeover and changes in the dimensions as well. The prices start off at RS 10.89 Lakhs (Ex-showroom), which is about a Lakh costlier than the previous model.

Here, we have focused mainly on the dimensions. In terms of length and width, the sedan has grown and is marginally bigger than the previous generation as well. Also, if we compare it against the rivals, the new City is the biggest sedan now. Here’s a comparison chart.

You can see that City is the longest and widest sedan in the segment. The second contender is the Ciaz and the City is nearly 60mm longer and 20mm wider. In terms of height, Yaris is the winner with City coming in for the second position. The wheelbase of the City is 50mm smaller than the Maruti Ciaz.

The smallest car in the segment has to be the Volkswagen Vento with a length of just 4390mm. Yaris has the shortest wheelbase of just 2550mm. This confirms that not only is City bigger, but its cabin will be roomier and more comfortable than other sedans. The previous generation City was not the biggest one in the class.

The new-generation Honda City continues with the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines. The i-VTEC unit now produces 122 PS and the same 145 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed MT and a CVT. The 1.5 i-DTEC also sees no changes in the power figures, offering 100 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed MT.
