Yamaha recently launched the XSR155 in Philippines for a price of Rs 2.47 lakh in Indian money. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has had quite a successful run with its 155cc motorcycles across the Asian continent. That also includes the Yamaha R15 V3.0 and the MT-15 sold here in India. These motorcycles have been extremely well received among enthusiasts. And that’s exactly the reason why there has been numerous speculations about Yamaha launching the XSR155 in India which is in fact based on the same platform as the R15 V3.0 and the MT-15.
The Yamaha XSR155 is a very unique motorcycle which has the potential to carve out a nice for itself owing to its retro styling and premium components. The naked streetfighter segment of motorcycles or sporty commuters are very popular with the Indian audience and Yamaha wouldn’t take much time to find audience for the motorcycle. Retro-styled motorcycles anyway have been on a resurgence in India and the XSR155 would be wonderful addition to that. However, Yamaha has not officially spoken anything about the XSR coming to India.
The Yamaha XSR155 borrows its design characteristics from the XSR series that Yamaha sells globally. Although the smallest of the family, the XSR155 strongly identifies itself as part of the family and despite its compactness, it does not lose out on any of the XSR appeal. The classic round headlamps are a highlight and the tear drop shaped fuel tank and retro styled seat really give it a unique character, one that can echo with the Indian audience really well.
