This Is The Kia Sonet GT Line That Has Been Spied Undisguised

The upcoming Kia Sonet GT Line, the top-end trim, has been spied uncamouflaged whilst engaged for a promotional TVC shoot.

Kia Sonet is the one of the most anticipated upcoming subcompact SUVs, which will see a global premiere next month. While we saw it at the Auto Expo 2020 in a concept version, when it comes to production, it won’t look much different. The launch is scheduled to happen sometime in the month of September.

After spying it a lot of times but with a camouflage, here’s an uncamouflaged spy shot of the SUV. Unfortunately, only the front half of the Kia Sonet can be seen but it still shows us a lot of details. For starters, it looks very similar to the concept version, with a funky and unique design appeal.

You can see that it gets Kia’s signature tiger nose grille, dual-tone red and black exterior colour, dual-tone alloy wheels and black ORVMs. This is the top-end GT Line trim which will come with a different design for alloys and even different colour options. There’s also the silver roof rails which complete its SUV looks.

Based on the platform of Hyundai Venue, the Sonet adapts a more rounded and funky design. While the Venue comes off as a more conventional boxy SUV, the latter will appeal to the changing design trends of an SUV that many buyers like nowadays. For that instance, even the Seltos carries an unconventional design language.

Sonet will come in HT Line and GT Line trims. Mostly, it will come in top-end GTX and GTX+ variants. The turbo petrol engine will remain exclusive to the GT Line trims, there are chances that these two variants might also be offered with a diesel engine. The engine and gearbox options, both will be borrowed from Hyundai Venue.

Venue’s popular 1.0 Litre turbo petrol engine will come on Sonet, producing 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque. It will come paired with two options including a 6-speed manual stick and a 7-speed DCT. What remains to be seen is that if Sonet diesel variants will get an automatic gearbox or continue with a 6-speed MT.
