This Yamaha MT-15 Gets Premium USD Forks From KTM Duke 390

Here’s an example of modified Yamaha MT-15 which looks like the global-spec version especially with these premium USD forks installed.

Yamaha MT-15 is the brand’s latest motorcycle to hit the Indian market. It is a naked street motorcycle based on the R15 V3, using the same engine and components. The bike was first introduced in the South East Asian markets where it gets a couple of cosmetic differences and a premium Upside-Down telescopic fork.

However, if you want one on your Indian MT-15, here’s your chance. The owner of this Yamaha MT-15 has swapped the regular telescopic front suspension with USD Forks. The setup has been borrowed from KTM Duke 390 and costed the owner just Rs 10,000. The owner seems very happy with this modification.

To do this, a couple of brackets have been adjusted and nothing else. This MT-15 gets 43mm USD forks along with Duke’s Bybre axial caliper. The headlamp assembly has also undergone some adjustment to fit the setup. Other than this, the alloys and brakes remain the same as earlier.

The owner has said that there are a couple of advantages as well as disadvantages. The ride has gotten plusher and now absorbs bumps better. Also, it is now more stable and predictable on high-speed corners. However, the disadvantages are that the turning radius has increased and the bike is heavier, however, by just 1 kg.

MT-15 gets a 155cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 19 PS and 13.9 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The BS4 version was slightly more powerful than the BS6, however, the latter is more fuel efficient. Yamaha claims that the MT-15 offers mileage of more than 40 kmpl.

Originally, it uses telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a single-channel ABS at the front and RLP at the back. The BS6 version is priced at Rs 1.40 Lakhs after receiving a mild price hike.
