You Won’t Believe This Modified Off-Roader is a Mahindra Bolero! (Video)

This Mahindra Bolero featured here has to be one of the most heavily modified off-road vehicles in the country, more than most Thars out there and it looks absolutely badass. It will also take you places other will never be able to go.

If we talk about modified off-road vehicles, then the Mahindra Thar will perhaps feature on top of the list of heavily modified off-road vehicles in India. And while the Thar is an extremely popular vehicle with heavy modifications, here’s a Mahindra Bolero that outdoes every modified Thar in the country. This has to be one of the most extreme off-road machines in the country and it certainly looks the part.

The Mahindra Bolero, just like the Thar, is also built on a ladder-frame chassis and that is why, it is relatively easy to modify the Bolero. The modification has been carried out on the recently facelifted Mahindra Bolero and right after it was brought new. You can even see the ribbons still present on the body of the Bolero. The video takes us through the entire modification process, even how the metal body was cut and shaped into this handsome beast.

After the modification, the SUV is no more identifiable that’s its a Bolero from its face. The look has been completely changed. The headlights, grille, bumper, everything is gone and now, a heavy-duty metal bumper made out of a 3mm sheet takes its place of pride. The traditional headlamps have been replaced by slim LED lamps within the metal bumper and the grille is now just a rectangular wire mesh, protecting the radiator. There’a also an electric winch installed with multiple tow hooks and it looks absolutely badass.

There’s also a massive air intake on the hood which is but fake, but it surely adds to the visual appeal of the SUV. Instead of normal headlamps, this modified Bolero gets two bars of 50-inch LED lights on the roof. The roof also gets a massive luggage carrier and also traction boards for when the SUV gets stuck in tricky situations. It is only when you look at this SUV from the side profile, you can remotely tell that this is a Bolero and that’s because of the doors. But even sides come with its fair share of modifications.

The wheel arches have been extended by 3.5-inch to fit the wider wheels and there’s a high lift jack on one side and a snorkel on the other side. Also look at those very cool looking side steps. The rear section of the SUV has been completely chopped off and although it comes covered with a soft-top, that too can be stripped down to make for an open rear section, much like how it can be done on the current-gen Jeep Wrangler. The rear bumper again is a complete metal unit and has been made to replicate the front and even comes with dual exhaust tips.

All these modifications are only for one purpose – and that’s going off the road. For this, the Bolero comes equipped with massive mud terrain tires and it also gets a heavy-duty off-road suspension setup. Overall, the ground clearance has gone up significantly, and it can really venture out in the wild world. We are unsure if there has been any mechanical changes under the hood and going by the video, the SUV does not seen to have been equipped with locking differentials, but it sure is mean still. It will certainly take you further than most SUVs could ever do.
