Audi has revealed the 2020 S3 sedan and once you are done drooling over its styling, you might be interested to know it does the 0-100kph sprint in just 4.8 seconds with a 310PS 2.0L TFSI petrol engine.
After revealing the Audi A3 earlier this year, the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer has now taken the wraps off the 2020 Audi S3. The new Audi S3 is based on the forth-generation A3 and if you are familiar with Audi’s nomenclature, you’d know the S in the name stands for something faster and more characterful. Let’s take a closer look at what makes the new S3 special and more importantly, faster than what’s its based on.
Even before we tell you about the numbers, the S3 already impresses with just its looks. The single-piece grille on the face is rather huge and the sleek LED headlamps look very sporty indeed. The bumpers look very sporty with huge air dams. lots of angular lines and black inserts. In typical Audi fashion, the profile is understated but the large alloy wheels sure shout out its sporty credentials. At the rear, the S3 has sharp LED tail lamps with a sporty looking bumper and quad exhausts but we feel the faux vents could have been given a miss.
But it is what’s under the hood of the S3 that really makes it special. The 2020 Audi S3 is powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that churns out 310PS and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. The Audi S3 is plenty for a family sedan as it can sprint from naught to 100 kph in just 4.8 seconds and then go on to a top-speed of 250 kph.

When you step inside the cabin of the S3, you realize its not much different from that of the standard A3. However, this being an ‘S’ car, there certainly are some ‘S’ touches like the flat-bottom steering wheel and upgraded sports seats which by the way come draped in upholstery made from recycled pet bottles. Obviously there’s Audi’s virtual cockpit system and the latest iteration of its MMI infotainment system. The interiors are also quite well laid out with a touch of minimalism yet is sophisticated and modern.

The Audi S3 also comes with plenty of performance upgrades under the skin. It gets a four-link rear axle and progressive steering and you can also spec it up with Audi’s sport suspension with damper control. It essentially allows you to alter the suspension stiffness based on your needs. The 2020 Audi S3 is available in both sedan and hatchback body styles. There are however no words of it making it to India yet. What is surely making it to India is the new-gen A3 sedan which will be launched sometime next year and a bunch of newer Audi models as well.
