The Honda CBR1000RR-R is finally coming to India and Honda has opened bookings for the same. Deliveries are expected to commence from August-end, with the bike likely to be priced in between Rs 18-22 lakh.
Following the launch of the Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin sometime ago, the next big bike from Honda destined for India is the monster 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. Honda has opened bookings for the 2020 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade in India and although the company hasn’t revealed the official booking amount, sources say you can book the motorcycle by paying R 3 lakh at a Honda dealership. It will come to India via the CBU route and is expected to be priced at around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Honda showcased the motorcycle at the EICMA 2019.
With this, Honda has finally entered the 200PS club. The styling seems to be straight out of Honda’s MotoGP manual and the extra R in the name screams its racing focus. The new Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is all about aerodynmaics. It gets a massive air intake in between the sharp LED headlamps and there are stacked aero winglets on the sides. Even the fuel tank has been made 45mm lower, enabling the rider to completely tuck himself behind the windscreen. The new motorcycle is way more purposeful and compact than the outgoing model.
The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is powered by a new 999.9cc inline-four engine that belts out a massive 217.5PS at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 12,500rpm. The engine gets the same bore and stroke as the RC213V-S MotoGP bike, lending it a more oversquare configuration than before. It also uses lightweight materials to keep the weight and centrifugal forces down, thus allowing the motor to spin faster. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of just 201 kg.
The CBR1000RR-R uses a aluminum frame and the monoshock has been mounted directly onto the back of the motor. This deletes the necessity for a rear cross member. Honda engineers have concentrated on giving the rider more chassis feel. The frame is 11% less rigid for more flex and feel. Also, the new swingarm in longer than before and while it offers more stability, it is also said to offer more stability when leaned over.

As for cycle parts, the regular CBR1000RR-R Fireblade gets Showa Big Piston forks and Big Piston monoshock. Meanwhile, the hotter SP version comes with Ohlins semi-active suspension setup. Both bikes get larger twin 330mm discs at the front. But while the regular CBR gets Nissin monoblocs, the SP variant gets Brembo Stylema calipers. The new motorcycle also gets larger 200-section rear tyres for better traction.

The electronic suite has also been revised. The previous five-axis IMU has been replaced with a new six-axis unit. You thus get a nine-stage traction control system, cornering ABS and launch control as standard. All electronics can be accessed via a 5-inch colour TFT screen which gets a new graphic interface as well. The bike will be sold only through Honda’s premium BigWing dealerships and deliveries will commence from August-end. The standard variant will be available in two colours: Grand Prix Red and Matte Pearl Morion Black whereas the Fireblade SP will be available only in Grand Prix Red.
