Reportedly, Hyundai has stopped the production of Creta base E and EX variants due to the ongoing pandemic, which will increase the waiting period.
Hyundai Creta is now the best selling SUV in India, continuing its streak for the past couple of months. Having a competitive price range and loaded with many premium features makes it a very VFM product if you have a budget of 15-20 Lakhs. The starting price of the SUV is Rs 9.99 Lakhs going all the way up to Rs 17.29 Lakhs (ex-showroom). However, the price range might be different if you have to buy the Creta now!
We got our hands on a message that was sent to a buyer of new Hyundai Creta. Reportedly, Hyundai has stopped the production of Creta base E and EX variants, which are priced at Rs 10 Lakhs. Due to the ongoing pandemic, all manufacturers cannot conduct their productions properly and not upto the full capacity. Probably, this is the reason for which Hyundai has stopped the production temporarily.

While you can still book the base E and EX variants, but you will have to wait for atleast 6 months. A couple of dealerships we inquired confirmed that the waiting period for these two variants is atleast 4-5 months, which can increase further. If any dealership has any leftover stock, then you can get the car in just a couple of days. While Hyundai has not confirmed this development, we are waiting for an official statement.
Another reason could be that the Creta E and EX variants might not be generating sales numbers as high as the S, SX and SX(O) variants. The base E variant comes with a 1.5 Litre diesel engine and the EX variant comes only with a 1.5 Litre petrol engine. While the EX variant gets a lot of features like a touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC and cruise control, but the E variant does not offer even these features.
The new Creta comes with three engine options including 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines, both producing 115 PS and a 1.4 Litre turbo petrol engine that is good for 143 PS. You have an automatic gearbox for all the engines here, but not a manual stick. The petrol engine and diesel engine get a 6-speed MT as standard, with the petrol unit you get a CVT and a 6-speed torque converter for the oil burner. The turbo unit gets a 7-speed DCT as standard.
