Kia Sonet will get three engine options to choose from, out of which, its diesel unit will come from the Seltos and new Hyundai Creta.
Kia Sonet is set to the create a stir in the sub compact SUV segment next month. All details about the SUV have been revealed along with its styling and now we are just waiting for the prices. The pre bookings have officially commenced across the country for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
Kia Sonet will get three engine options to choose from, including a 1.0 Litre turbo petrol, a 1.2 Litre petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine. Both the petrol engines are from Venue but the diesel engine comes from its elder sibling Kia Seltos. However, this engine will also come in two state of tuning.

Sonet Diesel Manual variant will use a detuned version of the 1.5 Litre diesel engine that also comes on the Venue. This motor can produce 100 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed stick. The automatic variant, however, will get the same engine of Seltos and new Creta with the same power figures.
In its true state, the engine is good for 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. So, the Sonet Diesel AT will also produce 115 BHP, making it one of the most powerful SUVs in its class. It will get a 6-speed torque converter gearbox that is another segment first feature. XUV300 and Nexon offer a diesel-auto combination, but both offer an AMT gearbox.
Sonet will continue to copy Seltos with the GT Line and HT Line trims. GTX+ will be the only variant from the line, getting options of a turbo petrol engine or a diesel engine only. The 1.2 Litre petrol engine will make way on the base and mid-spec trim, while the 120 PS turbo motor will come on top-end variants only.
