The Nissan Magnite will boast of quite premium interiors with a multi-layered effect with different textures and a few of segment-first features as well. It will also be very generous with space and this being a make-or-break product for Nissan in India, the interiors, features and space are very important indeed.
After unveiling the Magnite Concept last month, Nissan has now previewed the interiors of the Magnite with concept images of the cabin of the sub-compact SUV. The launch of the Nissan Magnite is still some time away but these images give us a good look at what the design and equipment list on the Magnite could be like. The Magnite will in fact share some of its interior components with the Renault Kiger and the Triber.
Although these are only concept images of the interiors, the cabin of the Nissan Magnite sure stands out. And by the looks of it, most of what you see here could make it into the final production-spec version. Of course, the steering wheel will be not quite so funky but the multi-layered dashboard with different textures could very well be retained. There’s also a generous use of faux brushed aluminium which gives the cabin a premium feel. The design itself is very minimalistic and uncluttered while the shape of the AC vents certainly stand out.
The upper half of the dashboard is certainly unique to the Magnite but a closer look will tell you that the bottom half is the same as we’ve seen on the Renault Triber MPV. Incidentally, it will also be the same on the Renault Kiger as well. These concept images also give us an idea about the features that would be on offer on the sub-compact SUV. The Magnite is a very important car for Nissan in India and it is going to make-or-break Nissan’s fortunes in India. Nissan has thus thrown in everything they could to make the Magnite stand out.
A look at these images will tell you that the Magnite will come with features like an 8-inch touchscreen system, push-button start, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio and telephony controls, powered mirrors, a rear centre armrest, rear AC vents and even a full-digital instrument cluster. We had also reported to you that the Magnite will come with a segment-first 360 degree camera and connected car tech as well. Nissan also promises that the Magnite will be big on space on the interiors.

Under the hood, the Nissan Magnite will be powered by familiar engines from the Renault Triber. That includes the 1.0L, naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine from the Triber that produces 72bhp. It will also get the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine with around 100bhp that’s expected to debut on the Triber very soon. Both engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both engines will also have an automatic gearbox option. The base non-turbo 1.0L engine will be offered with an AMT gearbox while the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine will be offered with a CVT automatic gearbox. There will thus be four powertrain options in total.

Nissan has said that the Magnite will be launched in India ‘within the financial year’ and we are expecting a launch around January 2021. The Nissan Magnite will have its starting price from around Rs 5.25 lakh mark and it might very well be cheapest in its segment. Additionally, even the turbo-petrol version with a CVT could have a sub-Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. The competition is stiff and it will have to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300. There’s also the upcoming Renault Kiger and the Kia Sonet joining this segment.
