Tata Tiago Goes Under A Truck But Still Keeps Passengers Safe

Tata Tiago has achieved a four-star safety rating in the global NCAP crash test. Here’s an example of its strong and sturdy build quality.

Tata Tiago is among the safest hatchbacks of India right now, ranking third after Tata Altroz and Volkswagen Polo. However, it is the safest hatchback that you can buy under a budget of Rs 5 Lakhs. Here’s an example of its strong build quality where the hatch crashed and went under a truck.

The owner was travelling on a highway at a speed of around 100 km/hr, when he crashed his Tata Tiago into a truck from the back. Due to the impact, even the truck owner was alert as his carrier was damaged. However, as its height was higher than the bonnet of Tiago, the hatch went under the truck and was dragged along.

The underbar of the truck was damaged but also scraped off the roof of Tiago. The car was trapped under the carrier and it had two people seated inside. Very soon, the car was pulled out and the occupants were completely safe. They had to go through some injuries, but nothing to worry about.

You can see that the roof has completely down taking the rear windscreen down as well. All the pillars have been damaged beyond repair. However, barring the roof and pillars, nothing else has been damaged. The part below the windows is in proper shape including then bumpers and alloys, all are in decent shape.

The car is definitely beyond repair and will enter the scrap market. Its engine and other components can be sold separately. If the roof and pillars are damaged, then they are very difficult to repair. You can get it fixed, but the whole process will take a lot of time and will be a costly affair.

Now, it comes with a BS6 compliant 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 86 PS and 116 Nm of peak torque. The 1.05 Litre diesel engine has been discontinued due to the BS6 norms. The petrol motor comes with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.
