Here’s a video where you can see Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour trying out different sorts of off-roading obstacle amongst which one is a very steep hill climb.
When it comes to off-roading, we just have a couple of SUVs that can go inside the forest and tackle most of the obstacles. Among them, two names are very famous and widely known. Obviously, it is the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Both have been competitors for the past decade and here’s a comparison between them as they both are trying to handle a steep hill climb off-roading.
Along with Fortuner and Endeavour, there are many other SUVs also trying the obstacles. There’s a Maruti Gypsy, an old version of Endeavour, Renault Duster and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. The first couple of hill climb races are very steep and very intimidating. On one, there is a small turn as well, where most of the SUVs get stuck. This is one obstacle where Fortuner and Endeavour both find difficulties but Isuzu D-Max crosses it easily.

However, for most of the parts, Fortuner and Endeavour clear it easily. Even Isuzu shows high capability but due its long wheelbase and comparatively slightly lower ground clearance finds it hard at some parts. The other two small cars include the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and Renault Duster AWD, which at their own pace, try to clear the obstacles. For almost all the parts, they have to try a couple of times.
Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross get locking differential and 4X4 drivetrain with a low range transfer case. Plus the former two also get active traction control system that helps them on muddy roads. On the other hand, Duster and Gyspy get minimal electronics to get them through. Sadly, both of them are no longer available in the market. But there’s always the used car market you can go.
