7 Features That Will Come On New 2020 Hyundai i20 But Not On Maruti Baleno And Toyota Glanza

These are the top 7 features that you will get on the new and upcoming 2020 Hyundai i20 but not on the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza.

Dealerships have started the unofficial bookings for the new generation Hyundai i20, ahead of the launch in the coming months. The updated hatch was supposed to be launched in the first half itself, however, due to the ongoing pandemic, everything got delayed. It has also been spotted testing many times on Indian roads.

The new Hyundai i20 will get a generation upgrade which will include new engines, more features, revised dimensions and a completely refreshed styling. The silhouette will be slightly different than the current one, to make it look even sportier. Continuing on the sportier note, it will be getting a turbo engine too.

New 2020 Hyundai i20

New engines will include a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Seltos. The original unit will be detuned for the i20, to produce 100 PS and 240 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will remain the same 1.2 Litre four-cylinder VTVT unit, that produces 83 PS and 113 Nm.

The third engine will include a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine from Venue. The engine will produce around 100 BHP and 172 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will come mated to a 5-speed MT and CVT. The diesel engine might just be available with a 6-speed manual and the turbo petrol with a 7-speed DCT.

When compared to the giant in the segment, Maruti Baleno, the i20 will offer 7 more features than it. Since Glanza is a rebadged Baleno, the same goes for the former. Here are the 7 more features that the i20 will get:

Cruise Control

Cruise control is now considered as an important feature while its use is still limited in our country. In this segment, i20 would not be the first one to offer it but will have an edge over Baleno and Glanza. Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz CVT also get one.

Electric Sunroof

This will be a segment-first feature of the 2020 Hyundai i20. Various test mules of the hatch have been spotted in India with an electric sunroof. Nonetheless, the addition of a sunroof makes the cabin airy but adds up to the heat inside it.

Ambient Mood Lights

Ambient mood lighting is a recently noticed feature that has now started coming up in budget cars. Kia Seltos was one of the earliest ones to get it in the budget segment, followed by the new Creta and then by the i20. You will get to choose different mood lights for the front row that can also be set as per the music.

Blue Link Technology

Hyundai’s latest Blue Link technology will come on the new i20. It may not offer the same features as that of Venue, but it will get remote lock/unlock, geofencing and all information accessible from the phone app itself. There are chances that it might also get remote engine start-stop option.

Rear AC Vents

Hyundai i20 will get rear AC vents from the mid-spec variant and not the base one. This feature is quite useful in a country like ours. Not every hatchback offers rear AC vents, even on the top-end variants.

Diesel Engine

This is not a feature but a highlight that will aid in the sales of i20. Due to the BS6 norms, Maruti has discontinued diesel engines and thus, Baleno is an all-petrol hatch. Diesel engines are now gaining attraction because of the excess torque and great mileage.

Digital Instrument Cluster

The new i20 will get an all-digital instrument cluster, similar to what is seen on the new Verna. The cluster can be customized with different themes and will get a large MID in between for the range, tripmeter, odometer and service indicator.
