Tata Altroz gets a ground clearance of 165 mm which seems a bit less on paper. This guy here has tested out the clearance on different surfaces.
Based on the condition of Indian roads, decent ground clearance is a must for every car. Better ground clearance will keep your suspension safer. Owner of a new Tata Altroz decided to test out the ground clearance and regarding that, he has made a nice video. Check it out now.
The first test is a small but steeply inclined slope. Here, we will get to know about ground clearance of the front bumper first. As you can see, the car scrapes it bottom easily. Also, if you notice, there is a underbody cladding that further reduces the clearance. It can climb up this slope but definitely might scrape its front and rear bumper.

The second test is about the rear bumper and as you can see, Tata Altroz is almost touching the ground. If even one passenger would be at the back, then definitely, the underbody would have scrapped. In the third test, you can see it going on some severely damaged roads. Here, the Altroz can be seen passing the test easily.
In the last one also, you can see it going through a tall speed breaker. Even here, the car easily passes through the test. The owner has compared this test with Maruti Baleno and comparatively, Altroz is better. On paper, the ground clearance of Baleno is actually 5mm higher. The former looks more upright, however.
This shows the ground clearance of Altroz is just about alright for the normal city roads and minor potholes. However, for large speed breakers with 5 people onboard might trouble the hatch. Prices of Tata Altroz start at Rs 5.29 Lakhs up to Rs 9.35 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It gets a 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine, both paired with a 5-speed MT as of now.
