The new-gen 2021 Hyundai Tucson boasts of a very futuristic design which is the most striking element about the new SUV. It also gets modern interiors with tons of features and even a new plug-in hybrid powertrain under its hood.

After numerous teasers and anticipation, Hyundai has finally taken the wraps off the 2021 Tucson SUV. The new-gen Hyundai Tucson boasts of a very futuristic design and that is what is the most striking element about the new SUV. It also gets modern interiors with tons of features, like most other Hyundai’s, and even a new plug-in hybrid powertrain under its hood. So here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 Hyundai Tucson.

Hyundai has finally taken the wraps off the 2021 Tucson SUV.

The 2021 Hyundai Tucson is based on the Vision-T concept that was showcased at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. What’s great to see is how close the production-spec model is to the concept showcased at the motor show. The new Tucson will be available in two wheelbase options – a short wheelbase and an extended long wheelbase, depending on the market. The new Tucson is based on Hyundai’s new ‘Parametric Dynamic’ design language, which is an evolution of its Sensuous Sportiness design language.

The huge grille that takes up almost the entire of the face and the way the LED DRLs have been vertically stacked within the grille is simply stunning and a straight lift from the concept. The bumper houses the split LED headlamps, something that becoming common with newer Hyundai SUVs. In profile, the Tucson seems very busy with lots of character lines and sharp creases flowing in every direction. The dual-tone alloy wheels housed in the squared wheel arches however look quite cool. At the rear, the Tucson gets connected LED tail lamps and we also like how the Hyundai logo has been integrated in the rear glass section. The rear bumper also gets a very unique surfacing.

Step inside the car, and the interiors are just as modern as the exterior. The wrap-around style of the dashboard looks very premium, something we see in much expensive cars and we also like the treatment to the faux AC vents, much like Audi cars. The center console gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a touch-based control panel for other functions of the car. There’s also an all-new digital instrument cluster that looks very similar to the one seen on the next-gen Mercedes S-Class and the steering wheel seems like a more premium version of the one on the Creta.

As for features, needless to say, to comes absolutely loaded. Some of the highlight features would be  connected car tech, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose sound system, an air purifier, a sunroof, and voice command-based feature activation. Safety features include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Blindspot View Monitor, and a Blind Spot Collision Warning.

Under the hood, the new Hyundai Tucson gets two engine options – a 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 190PS and 247Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The other engine options is a new 1.6-litre turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid which has a combined output of 230PS and 350Nm of torque (petrol engine develops an estimated 180PS/264Nm). The new Tucson also comes with all-wheel drive and even gets drive modes and traction modes, just like the India-spec Creta. The new Hyundai Tucson is expected to reach India only in 2022 and there’s a spotier N-Line in the works as well. We hop that too makes it to India. Prices are likely to start around the Rs 23-lakh mark.
