The new generation Mahindra Thar is all set to be launched early next month. The unofficial pre-bookings have already commenced at Mahindra dealerships. The prices will be announced on October 2nd itself. We have already had a brief drive with the new Thar so check out our review of it at the end of this video.
Here is a rendering which shows the new Mahindra Thar as a police jeep. It comes with the original black colour but with all the Police decals. Looks like this Police Thar could straightaway be used in games like GTA or NFS! There’s decals on the hood and both the sides along with some other cosmetic differences.

You can see the siren installed on the front bumper and roof. Also, there’s the netted window design for the back row. Other than that, it has been maintained in the original condition. Usually police jeeps just get some cosmetic differences and all the necessary equipment inside the cabin for patrolling and police work.
As for the new Thar, it gets a complete makeover including a different body shape, bigger dimensions and a completely new look. Under the hood, you get two new engines which include a 2.0 Litre petrol and a 2.2 Litre diesel engines. The petrol engine is good for 150 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. Diesel engine produces 130 BHP and 320 Nm. Both come paired with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT.
New features onboard include cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, real-time adventure statistics, 17-inch alloys, powerful halogen headlamps, dual airbags and rear parking sensors. For off-roading, you get 4X4 with low range transfer case gearbox, traction control, hill hold control and electronic braking differential locking.
