Here’s an example of the strong build quality of the Ford Figo that has been maintained over the years, including the older and the newer version.
Ford Figo, the latest one, along with Aspire has received 4-star safety rating in the NCAP crash tests. They haven’t been tested for India but the India-spec Figo and Aspire scored high ratings in the Latin NCAP tests. While the first gen Figo did not get any rating, here’s the strong build quality of it after a big accident.
This Ford Figo was travelling in the ghats of the Sahyadri Range where the accident occured. The driver/owner was travelling with his family and was going at decent speeds. Due to some unknown reasons, the car lost control and turtled 5 times. It then came to a halt the fifth time standing on the wheels.

The accident looks very serious and the owner seems to be travelling atleast above 60-70 km/hr. The particular road where this accident happened has some sharp curves and blind turns as well. Moving on, all the passengers inside the cabin walked away safe, only two of them got some minor injuries.
The car has been completely totalled. The alloys have twisted and the tyres have burst. The pillars and roof have also crumpled along with bumpers and bonnet. While the damage has reached the engine bay, there’s no damage specifically to the engine. It will be put under total loss and then the owner can claim full insurance.
The owner was very appreciative about the build quality of the Ford Figo. While this is still the first-generation model, the latest Figo gets more safety features and an even stronger body. It is the most affordable and the only one in its segment to offer six airbags on the top-end variants, where other cars just offer dual airbags.
