This Toyota Fortuner has been modified in Thailand where it has been made to look like the Hilux pickup truck, taking the body-kit from the ‘Invincible’ trim of the Hilux. The modification is so great, you can’t even tell its modified.
The Toyota Fortuner is a very capable full-size SUV, one that will take every terrain that you throw at it with reasonable ease. The Fortuner is one of the brand’s top selling model in India and it has always dominated its segment, right from the first-gen model. It is also a favorite among modifiers and over time, we have seen some wonderful examples of very tastefully modified Toyota Fortuners. Here we have another example of a very tastefully modified Toyota Fortuner, one that’s made to look like the Toyota Hilux.
Now if you have been following our reports lately, you’d know that there were talks about Toyota considering to launch the Hilux pick-up truck in India. The lifestyle pickup truck was even spotted testing in India a few days ago. Incidentally, the Fortuner and the Hilux are based on the same IMV platform. Thus, modifying one to the other isn’t a hugely difficult task, as has been rightly demonstrated by this example here. This Fortuner has been modified in Thailand.
The face of this Toyota Fortuner has been completely transformed to look like that of the Hilux. The LED headlamps, the grille with the chrome strip and Toyota logo, the sporty fog lamp housings integrated within the cladding over the wheel arches – all have been directly lifted from the ‘Invincible’ trim of the Hilux that’s on sale in some international markets. The modification has been done so seamlessly and it fits the SUV so perfectly, one cannot even tell that it has been modified. This Fortuner also gets some rugged silver skid plates for underbody protection.

The Fortuner also gets a dual-tone finish with huge black decal covering the entire bonnet, bumper and fenders with thick black cladding over the wheel arches. The rear quarter also gets some additional decals along with ‘Sportivo’ decals along the door sills. The rear of the SUV looks like the stock Fortuner but there are several blacked out elements like the strip joining the tail lamps, the tail lamp surrounds and on the bumper as well. The after-market blacked-out alloy wheels with those huge all-terrain tires also give the SUV a lot of character.

Toyota has already facelifted the Fortuner for international markets and that is yet to arrive in India. The facelifted Toyota Fortuner was expected to arrive in India by the end of this year. However, Toyota just launched the TRD limited edition of the Fortuner some time ago in India and the facelifted model will only make it to India by 2021. The facelifted Fortuner looks a lot more sharper and handsome than before and also gets a host of equipment and features upgrade on the inside as well.
