The Forth-Gen Honda City is Now More Affordable Than Ever!

Honda has reduced the price of the forth-gen City and also severely trimmed down the variant line-up in order to create some differentiation from the fifth-gen City in terms of pricing. The top-spec VX and ZX and CVT variants have all been discontinued.

We had already reported to you that Honda will be selling the forth-gen City alongside the newer fifth gen City. Now, Honda has re-launched the forth-gen City at a reduced price and has also severely trimmed down the variant line-up of the forth-gen City. Well, this has been done to create some breathing space for the new-gen City. The forth-gen Honda City will now be available only in the lower-spec SV and V variants. Here are the revised variants and price of the forth-gen Honda City.

Variant Old Price New Price Difference
City SV Rs 9.91 lakh Rs 9.30 lakh Rs 61,000
City V Rs 10.66 lakh Rs 10.00 lakh Rs 66,000

The top-spec VX and ZX variants along with all the CVT variants (V, VX and ZX) of the forth-gen Honda City have now been discontinued. This has primarily been done to create some differentiation between two generations of the City in terms of price. If you compare the prices of the fifth-gen City with that of the BS6 forth-gen City, you’d see there’s a significant overlap. However, with these revised prices, there’s a healthy gap of Rs 90,000 between the two generations of the City.

Although the variants have been severely trimmed and only the lower-spec trims will continue to be on sale, its not that bare bones after all. The base-spec City SV variant comes equipped with features such as 15-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, a Bluetooth, USB and AUX-compatible audio system, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, front and rear center armrests, driver’s seat height adjust, power windows, power adjustable ORVMs, rear AC vents, and a rear accessory socket, all as standard.

Standard safety features on the City SV variant includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, remote central locking and a rear defogger. Moving up to the City V variant, it additionally gets you features such as  a rear parking camera, front fog lights, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power folding ORVMs and keyless entry and go. Honestly, its pretty fairly equipped and while it may not be as value for money as the Skoda Rapid Rider which is priced at Rs 7.49 lakh, its still a bargain for a Honda City.

The forth-gen Honda City continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder SOHC VTEC petrol engine which develops 119hp and 145Nm of peak torque. The engine solely comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Sadly, the CVT automatic variants have been discontinued with this revision and diesel variants of the forth-gen City were discontinued long back in the BS4 era. So if you are looking for the convenience of an automatic gearbox or a diesel engine, you’d have to setup up to the new fifth-gen City which is priced from Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 14.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
