Reports suggest that the third Toyota car from the partnership will be an MPV based on the Maruti Ertiga and will sit below the mighty Innova.
The second product from the partnership of Toyota And Maruti has been launched. Toyota Urban Cruiser, based on the Maruti Vitara Brezza, makes its debut in the market with prices starting at Rs 8.40 Lakhs up to Rs 11.30 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Between both of them, there are some differences and more than between Glanza and Baleno. Reports of the third car from their partnership is already coming up.
Toyota has reportedly already started working on its upcoming MPV which will sit below the Innova. The upcoming MPV will be based on the Maruti Ertiga, borrowing the components, engine and platform. The report further states that all their upcoming rebadged products will be a lot more different. Along with styling differences, there will be also changes done to shape and features list.

Maruti Ertiga is among the most affordable and popular MPVs of the country. While it may have lost out on a diesel engine, it gets a petrol-CNG combination. Powering the Ertiga, is a 1.5 Litre K-series petrol engine that is good for 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque. With CNG as an option, you can extract more than 30 km/kg. That makes it very fuel efficient and total VFM.
Similarly, the Toyota MPV could also get CNG as an option. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer, just a petrol motor. Further, we can expect it to get some styling bits from the bigger Innova and Fortuner. The features list could see improvements in the headlamp unit, interior and quality of the materials used on the dashboard. It could also be offered in different colours and with new alloys.
Other upcoming products from their partnership are unknown as of now. There are reports that Maruti will be using the hybrid technology of Toyota, which you can see on the Camry. Further, the Japanese is also planning to launch a CNG version of the Innova in the mid-spec trim. It will be available for commercial as well as private buyers.
