2020 Mahindra Thar is witnessing a huge demand as the waiting period has gone as high as up to 6 months.
The bookings for the 2020 Mahindra Thar is in full swing as the numbers recently crossed the 18,000 mark. In just a couple of weeks, the bookings have soared and is expected to reach new records soon. Reports now suggest that the waiting period could go as high as 6 months in some cities, depending on the variant and engine/gearbox combination that you are buying.
The demand for hard-top variants goes up to 22 weeks, which is almost 6 months. The soft top has the lowest waiting of around 6-8 weeks from the date you are booking. For the convertible, you will have to wait atleast 8-10 weeks. It comes in two trims – AX and LX – the former in soft top and the latter with the option of a convertible and a hard top. LX variants are the top-end ones while AX forms the base variants.

Mahindra Thar comes with two engine options including a 2.2 Litre turbo-diesel engine and a 2.0 Litre NA petrol motor. The diesel engine is good for 130 BHp and 320 Nm of peak torque and the petrol motor is good for 150 BHP and 320 Nm. Both the engines come with the option of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. However, AT variants are not available on the AX trim line.
Features onboard include 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Real Time Adventure Statistics, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, cruise control and steering mounted audio controls. On the safety front, you have traction control, 4X4 drivertrain with low-range transfer case, hill descent and ascent control and dual airbags. The 4X4 comes as standard on both the trims.
Prices of 2020 Mahindra Thar start at Rs 9.80 Lakhs going up to Rs 13.75 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). The LX trims are priced from Rs 12.49 Lakhs, starting with the Petrol-AT combination. The AX variants on the other hand go just up to Rs 12.20 Lakhs, for the diesel-manual variant. The AX variants miss out on certain bits like roll-over bar, alloy wheels and cruise control.
