Audi has opened bookings for the Q2 in India for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh. The Q2 will come to India as a full import and will not be locally manufactured. It will be the most affordable Audi in India until the A3 arrives next year.
After teasing the Audi Q2 for India last month, the German carmaker has opened bookings for their new entry-level SUV. You can book the new Audi Q2 at either any Audi dealership or by visiting the brand’s website for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh. Audi is even offering a 5-year comprehensive service package as part of the Q2’s introductory offers. The Audi Q2 will be the new entry point into the brand in India as it will sit even below the Q3. Although it will not be the most affordable Audi there has ever been in India – that tag goes to the Audi A3 sedan – it will be priced very close to the last-gen A3.
Although this is going to be Audi India’s new entry point into the brand – until the new A3 arrives next year – it will not be locally manufactured here. Instead, the Q2 will come to India as a full import, utilizing the government’s provision which allows carmakers to bring as many as 2500 units of a car as imports and then sell here without the requirement of homologation. The car that’s coming to India is however not the facelifted Q2 that was unveiled for Europe very recently. Instead, it will be the pre-facelift version.
Obviously, the Audi Q2 is targeted at a much younger audience, particularly those who are looking to buy their first luxury car in India. It will be readily identifiable by its smaller footprint than even the Audi Q3. But it sure has the Audi DNA in terms of design. The face gets a large single-frame grille flanked by LED headlamps on either side. There’s also generous body cladding all around but the tail lamps are squarish, quite unique for an Audi. The Q2 however does boast of a very funky color palette and we hope all of it makes it to India.

On the inside, the Audi Q2 has interiors similar to the previous-gen Audi A3 sedan and honestly, we are not complaining. Thankfully, the infotainment system is controlled via a swivel wheel on the center console and Audi hasn’t put their dual-infotainment screen layout here in the Q2. You also get physical buttons and dials for the climate controls. Some of the highlight features would include Audi’s MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, and connected car technology. It also gets Audi’s virtual cockpit system.

The Audi Q2 will be powered by a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine in India, the same that powers the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. The engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of torque and it will come mated to 7-speed dual clutch transmission along with Audi’s quattro all wheel drive system. Audi claims a 0-100 kph time of just 6.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 228 kmph. When launched, the Q2 will have no direct rivals in India as it will sit below the Mercedes Benz GLA and the BMW X1. The launch is expected in the coming weeks in October itself and the price is expected to range between Rs 30-35 lakh.
