One of the best things about a Mahindra Thar is the freedom of personalization that the SUV offers to you. Most Thars barely spend a few days before they are customized with aftermarket accessories. Mahindra didn’t offer an elaborate set of accessories with the previous-gen Thar, which is we saw so many Thars lying around in aftermarket garages. However, Mahindra is now well aware of the trend with this SUV, and to that effect, they are offering a wide range of genuine interior and exterior accessories to go with the new Thar.
Just like the variants of the new Thar are divided into two broad categories – LX and AX – the accessories being offered with the new Thar are also broadly divided into two categories – maintenance and adventure. The maintenance section essentially includes features such as cosmetic add-ons, seat covers and floor mats, door hinges and the likes. Speaking of cosmetic add-ons, the exterior gets a choice of two packages – Dark Hero and Chrome Hero – and the names are pretty suggestive of brings in the form of additional decals, body cladding and exterior appliques.

There are several accessories to personalize your Mahindra Thar from the inside as well. These include four types of floor mats, six seat upholstery options, steering wheel cover, a magnetic sunshade for the front windows, and scuff plates. You can also equip lower-spec AX and AX-Opt variants of the Thar with features from the LX variant like the Vibe branded speakers and roof-mounted speaker kit or even the LED DRLs which are not offered as standard on the lower trims.

The Mahindra Thar however remains a dedicated off-roader and Mahindra sure hasn’t forgotten the roots of the Thar. This SUV is inevitably meant for the rough stuff and that also means getting stuck in precarious situations once in a while. And that’s what the adventure section of accessories covers. This includes a bunch of vehicle recovery accessories from Bushranger such as tow hooks, winches with extension straps, and jacks.
