Hyundai Verna Gets a New Base Variant; Price Hiked Across Other Trims!

Hyundai has introduced a new base E variant in the Verna lineup, thus dropping the entry price point by Rs 28,000. They have however hiked the price across all other trims by Rs 8,000.

Just a couple of days ago, Hyundai announced a price hike for the Creta SUV along with introducing a new base variant in the lineup as well. Hyundai has now meted out the same treatment to the Verna sedan as well. Although the price hike isn’t as steep on the Creta, prices for all variants of the Hyundai Verna are now Rs 8,000 dearer. Also, Hyundai has launched a new base E variant of the Verna which brings down the entry-level price of the Verna by Rs 28,000. The new Hyundai Verna E variant has been launched for Rs 9.03 lakh, ex-showroom.

Prices for the Hyundai Verna earlier started from Rs 9.30 lakh and went up to Rs 15.10 lakh for the top-spec variant. With the new base E variant and price hike of Rs 8,000 across all variants, the Hyundai Verna rage now starts from Rs 9.03 lakh and goes up to 15.18 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Hyundai Creta meanwhile saw a much steeper price hike of up to Rs 62,000 a couple of dats ago.

The new base E variant of the Hyundai Verna gets most of its features from the previous entry-level S variant. However, there have been a few important omissions in terms of features to achieve the lower price point. This includes the 8-inch Touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, front USB charger, and a sunglass holder, which are still offered on the S trim. Apart from that, the base E variant is solely available with the 113 bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine and the transmission option is only the 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Hyundai Verna is otherwise also available with a 118 bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which solely comes mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. There’s also a 113 bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine that comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit. The 1.5L, naturally aspirated petrol engine is also available with a CVT transmission – which Hyundai calls the Intelligent Variable Transmission – from the SX trim and above.

As for the Verna itself, Hyundai updated the model with a facelift earlier this year in March. With considerable cosmetic changes, the Verna now looks the most stylish it has ever looked in its entire lifetime. Hyundai also threw in a bunch of new features along with BlueLink Connected car technology. No other sedan in this segment offers as much value for money and powertrain options as the Hyundai Verna, making it one of the most compelling products in this segment.
