Contrary to previous expectations, the next-gen Suzuki Hayabusa will be an evolution of previous-gen motorcycle. The new Hayabusa will have an evolutionary design with the engine and frame being carried over with certain updates.
When Suzuki pulled the stops on the Hayabusa, the motorcycling community took the news with a heavy heart. It is one of the most iconic motorcycles out there, one that almost defined the term superbike in the early 2000s. The first-gen Hayabusa also had a fairly long production run, first being introduced in 1999 and running all the way up to 2019. Suzuki had however promised that its not the end of the Hayabusa nameplate and that they were already working on the second generation of the motorcycle.
Some new details has surfaced about the second-gen Hayabusa and some of it comes as a surprise. Earlier, it was expected that the second-gen Suzuki Hayabusa would be a brand new motorcycle with a new frame, engine and design. However, according to a latest report by the Japanese magazine AutoBy, the new Hayabusa will be carrying over a lot of components from its predecessor. In fact, the new-gen Hayabusa will only be an evolution of the previous version in terms of its design along with an updated engine.
The Hayabusa has always divided opinions on its styling but it sure was iconic. You wouldn’t mistake the silhouette of a Hayabusa for anything else. AutoBy, in its report, has suggested that the design of the new motorcycle would be slightly tweaked to bring it up to modern times and has even come out with a rendering of the same. While this was an opportunity for Suzuki to really up the design of the Hayabusa, we are sure a large number of people would really appreciate an evolution of the previous-gen design, and nothing more.

The 1340cc inline-four cylinder engine will also have to be updated to meet the stricter Euro 5 emission norms, with changes mainly expected to the intake and exhaust systems. Power figures are expected to continue to be in the region of 200PS. The frame is also expected to be carried over from the previous-gen bike, perhaps with certain tweaks, but a new, more premium suspension setup could perhaps spice things up.

What could be a major update on the new motorcycle is the addition of IMU-based electronic rider aids. That would really bring the Hayabusa up to date with the current crop of superbikes and you could expect features such as multiple riding modes, traction control modes, cornering ABS and much more. The new Suzuki Hayabusa is expected to be unveiled by the end of this or perhaps early next year. Suzuki has said they are bringing at least 10 new motorcycles by 2021, with a focus on large capacity motorcycles. With the Katana and V Strom 1050 already out, the next could very well be the mighty Hayabusa.
