In a latest tweet, Zac Hollis has confirmed that Skoda Rapid is sold out for 2020 due to excessive demand and bookings received.
BS6 Skoda Rapid is the most affordable executive sedan that you can buy, with prices starting at Rs 7.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The top-end variant goes for Rs 13.29 Lakhs, which is still cheaper than many of its competitors by more than a Lakh. Due to the competitively priced base and mid-spec variants, many buyers have opted for that.
In a recent twitter reply, Mr. Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service and Marketing- Skoda Auto India has given us important details about the Skoda Rapid. The official says that Rapid is currently sold out for 2020 due to excessive demand than supply. The booking figures have crossed the monthly production capacities.

As a result, the supply will again commence in January 2021. This hints us that the deliveries might commence directly next year itself. The existing bookings will be first delivered till December this year and then commence the supplies again. This also shows that Skoda Rapid has received an amazing response in the Indian market, after its prices were adjusted.
Rapid gets a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder TSI motor that produces 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. Despite losing a diesel engine, the demand has rather increased for the turbo-powered sedan. It comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter unit, ditching out the 7-speed DSG gearbox as well.
Despite all this, Rapid still remains one of the least feature equipped sedan in its segment. The top-end variant offers an Android-operated touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, automatic headlamps, LED DRLs, dual front airbags, rear parking camera and the heavy build quality that every Skoda car possesses. It misses out on some key features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Push Button Start, Keyless Entry and such.
