This Subtly Facelifted Toyota Camry Hybrid is Coming to India in 2021!

Toyota has unveiled the mid-life facelift for the Camry Hybrid sedan in Europe and although the current Camry Hybrid in India is only about a couple of years old, the updated sedan is expected to make it to our country sometime in 2021.

Toyota is in a spree updating their entire portfolio. They launched the Innova Crysta facelift in India a couple of days ago. There’s a facelift for the Fortuner coming very soon to India as well and now, they have unveiled the mid-life facelift for the Camry Hybrid sedan in Europe. Although the current Toyota Camry Hybrid in India is only about a couple of years old, the updated sedan is expected to make it to our country sometime in 2021. It continues to be underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform but there are subtle updated inside and out.

Although you might not be able to tell it in just the first glance, most of the changes on the Camry facelift are concentrated on the face. The Camry hybrid now gets a revised front bumper with a new upper grille that is a little more sleeker than before. The lower grille too has been updated and there are new subtle silver accents on the edges along with slightly revised fog lamps. Elsewhere, the Camry gets the option of new 17-inch or 18-inch wheels and at the rear, the tail lamp has been slightly tweaked with new internals. The Deep Metal Grey paint shade is also new on the Camry.

Updates on the inside are a little more evident than the ones on the outside. The dashboard continues with the asymmetrical design theme but the 9-inch touchscreen is now a floating unit. The pre-facelift model had it integrated in the dashboard. The infotainment system now also gets physical buttons and dials and the OS too has been updated along with the inclusion of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The center console too has had to be updated due to the new infotainment unit with redesigned AC vents and HVAC controls.

The Camry hybrid also gets an important new feature addition and that’s the latest Toyota Safety Sense feature. This brings in features such as pre-collision system with front-to-front oncoming vehicle detection, emergency steering assist and intersection turn assist. It also gets adaptive cruise control that works with road sign assist and lane trace assist. The sedan however remains mechanically unchanged under the hood. It continues to be powered by a 2.5-litre self-charging petrol hybrid engine. Total power output stands at 218PS and the powertrain comes mated to a CVT gearbox. The Camry Hybrid continues to be able to drive in pure EV mode or pure ICE mode or a combination of both.

As mentioned before, the Camry Hybrid facelift is expected to make it to India sometime in 2021. Currently, Toyota retails the sedan in India for Rs 39.02 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is expected to carry a bit of a premium. The Camry hybrid is however very unique and has a niche of its own with no direct rival in India. Before the Camry Hybrid, Toyota is all set to launch the Fortuner facelift very early in 2021. Unofficial bookings for the same are already underway.
