With such a wide range of models, it comes as no surprise that Mercedes offers nearly 13,000 cars on its approved used scheme. What is perhaps more of a shock is that when we looked, prices started at just £1,300 for a 2007 A150 with 81,000 miles. The highest mileage we found was on a 2010 E-Class (199,000 miles) and the oldest car was a 2000 C220 CDI.

Predictably, all of the usual pre-sale checks are made for wear, damage, clocking and finance, and every car comes with breakdown cover for 12 months. There’s also a one-year warranty, and unlike some schemes, there’s no mileage limit. Where Mercedes manages to distance itself from its rivals is in offering finance, servicing packages and insurance just as it does with its new vehicles. As a result your local Mercedes dealer should be your one-stop shop, even if your pockets aren’t especially deep.
