2021 Jeep Compass Unveiled – Check Out What’s New!

Jeep has officially unveiled its updated Compass for India earlier today. To put it simply, they have completely revamped the interiors with this update. The interior is a big departure from the last-gen model and provides a much more modern and premium feel. Jeep has announced that after the launch of Compass, it will launch 3 more products within the next two years. This includes a locally assembled Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The other big launch will be the Jeep Compass 7-seater. While we already have covered what to was expected of this update, let us have a look at the highlights of changes from the launch.

2021 Jeep Compass – Exterior and Interior

The front of the new Compass does get a lot of changes, including redesigned LED Headlamps and DRLs. The front bumper has also been redesigned. The trademark seven-slat grille has also been updated a bit. The fog lamps housing and air dam have been changed as well. The new alloys look particularly bold. Overall, however, the design and styling of this new Compass remain the same. There are no noticeable changes to the sides or the rear. It still looks like a typical Jeep with a boxy and squared-off design.

The changes to the interior are transformative and modern. The entire styling of the interiors has been redone. Starting from the new dashboard with stitched fabric/leatherette along with new metal inserts, do make it look modern. The new 10.0-inch floating Digital Infotainment Touchscreen is a welcome addition. Moreover, the connected tech from Jeep known as the UConnect 5 offers a ton of new convenience features like integrated Alexa support and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In the video for the launch of the new Compass, Jeep was very particular to announce these UConnect updates including over-the-top software updates.

New convenience features also include a 360-degree view Camera, an updated Digital Instrument Cluster with a ton of information for the driver, Steering Mounted Controls, increased storage space inside the cabin powered tailgate and wireless charging. On the safety front, the Compass comes with 6 Airbags, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Hill Ascent and Descent Control and rive modes for various terrains because of Traction Control Function.

2021 Jeep Compass – Engine and Transmission

The Compass is offered in both petrol and diesel options. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine makes 163hp and 250Nm and comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic. The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 173hp and 350Nm and comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter. It must be noted that these are the exact same engines that were available with the outgoing models as well. Along with these engines, higher variants of the Compass also come with a 4×4 system, lending it off-roading capabilities.

2021 Jeep Compass – Price and Rivals

Jeep is yet to announced the prices of the updated Compass. However, the current Compass starts at Rs 16.49 lakh and the special edition off-road-focused Trailhawk variant costs Rs 26.80 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the new Compass to command a bit of a premium over these prices. Also, the Trailhawk edition of this updated Compass will likely launch soon. The direct rivals of the Jeep Compass in India are Hyundai Tuscon and Skoda Karoq. Let us see what this new update brings to the Jeep family in India, which has planned to launch new products to establish the brand in our market in the long run.
