Nissan Magnite Receives 30,000 Bookings In Just 1 Month – 1000 Bookings A Day!

Ever since its launch. on December 2, 2020, the Nissan Magnite has received over 30,000 bookings. This is astonishing to say the very least because prior to that, Nissan has faced unfortunate failures with its products. In November 2020, the market share of Nissan in India stood at a mere 0.4%. That clearly shows where the brand was. That is why Nissan was betting big on the Magnite. It was supposed to be the make or break product for the carmaker. Knowing very well that the future of Nissan lied in the hands of this new compact SUV, Nissan priced the Magnite extremely aggressively at Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

Let us take a look at the possible reasons for such a response.

Nissan Magnite – Upto 2 months waiting period

With such competitive pricing, Nissan was sure to grab attention. What the bigger question was: What would the Magnite offer at this price point? The answer is very simple: Many segment-firsts. To say that Nissan Magnite is featured-packed will be an understatement. Nissan had already learned its lesson from its previous failures. It knew that it had to equip Magnite with the latest features as well as price it competitively. Only then can it think of competing with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300.

But because of an astonishing price range, it tried to eat the market share of even some of the premium hatchbacks, like the all-new Hyundai i20. That sure had people’s attention. Indian buyers are very particular about the value for money aspect of any product. That is exactly what Nissan targeted. The result is in front of us. In the last 30 days, Nissan has received 30,000 bookings from the customers. It plans to deliver the Magnite from January 2021.

Some say it is a good problem to have when you are unable to keep up with the demand for your product. That is exactly what Nissan is facing at the moment. The Nissan-Datsun plant at Chennai has a capacity of 5,000 units a month. This is what Nissan needs to fix at the moment and Nissan knows it. They are ramping up the production to tackle the current waiting time of 2-3 months.

What is the plan ahead?

Now that the Magnite is a successful product, how does Nissan build up on this? We know that to succeed in our market it is not enough to have just a few products. Nissan will have to think about the Datsun products as well. They can come up with fresh products for customers from both the brands, now that they have found the key to success. They already have 24×7 roadside assistance for the Nissan customers in more than 1500 cities as standard. In terms of servicing and workshops, Nissan has already 120 of these in 12 cities and is developing more as we speak. It is also interesting to know that Nissan claims that Magnite has the lowest cost of ownership at Rs 0.29 per km.
